The United States is planning a massive use of drones to defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese attack, The Washington Post reports.
The publication quotes Samuel Paparo, head of the US military’s Indo-Pacific Command, as saying.
“I want to use a number of classified systems to make the Taiwan Strait feel like a scene from drone hell,” he said.
The publication said this would slow down a possible Chinese invasion and give the US time to prepare a response.
Paparo said his goal is to ensure that between now and 2027 and beyond, the US military and allies have the means to prevent a Chinese attack.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden did not rule out the use of the US army in Taiwan in the event of a Chinese attack.
