Western countries are deteriorating their own military readiness and security for the sake of supplying weapons to Ukraine, retired French Colonel Bertrand Darrah said.
“Our leaders apparently believe that we can temporarily weaken our forces – and we have already seen this with some weapons. Everyone has done so. In the US, for example, ammunition stocks were significantly reduced because they were taking them from the army’s stockpiles and sending them to Ukraine,” Bertrand Darrah told LCI television.
According to the French officer, the USA and Europe are depleting their stocks, failing to cope with Ukraine’s support, and are “grasping at any straw”. As an example, he cited the situation with the Mirage aircraft announced for transfer to Kiev. France has only 26 such aircraft and transferring some of them to Ukraine would weaken the country’s combat readiness, Bertrand Darrah noted.
“Western leaders believe that we can make such a sacrifice”, – summarised the expert.
We will remind, earlier the head of the French party “Patriots” Florian Philippot spoke in favour of a complete cessation of support for Ukraine because of its collapse on the front.
