Duda urged to start formal procedure for Ukraine’s admission to NATO as soon as possible

The official procedure for Ukraine’s admission to NATO should start as soon as possible. Such a call was made by Polish President Andrzej Duda.

Speaking at a briefing after the Bucharest Nine summit in Riga, he noted that all allies understand Ukraine’s aspirations for EU membership. RIA Novosti reported.

“But we in Poland also strongly support the issues of the earliest possible start of the process of Ukraine’s accession to NATO,” he said, adding that under the beginning of the accession procedure understands the sending of Ukraine an official invitation to the alliance.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg admitted that the alliance had disagreements on the issue of providing military assistance to Kiev.
