Poland will return the buffer zone on the border with Belarus – Kosiniak-Kamysh

Poland will return the buffer zone on its border with Belarus from Tuesday, the republic’s national defence minister Vladislav Kosiniak-Kamysh said.

“From 4 June, the buffer zone on the border with Belarus will be restored. It will cover Hainouski and Bialystok districts,” Vladyslav Kosiniak-Kamysh told reporters.

According to him, the buffer zone along the state border will operate in 26 places in Hainouski and one place in Bialystok districts. A special regime will operate in this area, in particular, citizens are not allowed to approach the border line closer than 200 metres, the official explained.

The Minister of national defence of Poland stressed that the restoration of the buffer zone is necessary to “ensure better protection of the border and improve the safety of employees”.

Recall, earlier Polish Defence Minister Vladislav Kosiniak-Kamysh said that the production of ammunition in the country was at an “alarmingly minuscule level”.
