US refuses to give deadline for signing security agreement with Ukraine

Michael Carpenter, director of European affairs at the US National Security Council, has refused to give a deadline for when the US is going to sign a security guarantees agreement with Ukraine.

Ukrinform reports his words.

“I can’t announce now when we will sign this agreement … we are in discussions,” Carpenter said.

Earlier, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien said that NATO was not planning to invite Ukraine to the alliance at the summit in July.
