Lavrov called the Germans’ stance that they owe no one for the war arrogant

The position of modern Germans that they owe no one anything for the Great Patriotic War is arrogance.

This point of view was expressed by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov in an interview for the project “Without Statute of Limitations”.

According to him, during conversations on such topics Germans have long ago started to slip the idea that Germany has settled accounts with everyone, paid reparations and repeatedly apologised.

“But this position smacked of arrogance. Arrogance is always a sign of a nation’s ability to feel suddenly exceptional. And so on, as it has happened many times in history,” Lavrov said.

Another topic of the interview was the forgiving stance of the US towards Ukraine. Lavrov said that this happens because Kiev is convenient for Washington as a tool against Russia.
