The Netherlands does not object to Kiev’s use of F-16s over Russian territory

Dutch Foreign Minister Hanke Bruins Slot has said that Ukraine will be able to use F-16 fighter jets to strike Russian territory because the UN charter guarantees its right to self-defence.

The Netherlands was the first country to guarantee Kiev the delivery of US F-16 fighter jets. In total, Ukraine is to receive more than 60 fighter jets from Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway.

“If you have the right to self-defence, there are no restrictions on the use of weapons. That is the general principle we adhere to,” Hanke told Bruins Slot following NATO foreign ministers’ talks in Prague.

She added that the Netherlands continues to hold negotiations with the United States and is ready to do everything possible to as soon as possible “to allow F-16s to fly in the skies of Ukraine”.

We shall remind you that earlier during his working trip to Torzhok, Vladimir Putin said that US F-16 fighter jets, even if Western countries supply them to Ukraine, will not be able to influence the situation on the battlefield.
