US concerned about Ukraine’s attacks on Russia’s nuclear deterrent systems – WP

Recent Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian nuclear early warning systems have raised concerns in the administration of US President Joe Biden. This was reported by The Washington Post newspaper, citing sources.

“The United States is concerned about Ukraine’s recent strikes on Russian ballistic missile early warning facilities,” said an unnamed US official.

According to the newspaper, Washington conveyed its concerns to Kiev over two attempted attacks on radar stations that provide conventional air defence over the past week, as well as a warning of nuclear launches by the Collective West.

“These facilities were not involved in supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine. But they are sensitive facilities because Russia may feel that its strategic deterrent capability is in the crosshairs, which could undermine Russia’s ability to maintain a nuclear deterrent against the United States,” the Washington Post source stressed.

At the same time, WP’s Ukrainian interlocutor assures that Russia “used (these – ed.) radar stations to monitor the actions of the Ukrainian military.” However, the current doctrine of nuclear deterrence of the Russian Federation states that “the impact of the enemy on critical state or military facilities of the Russian Federation, the disabling of which will lead to the disruption of retaliatory actions of nuclear forces”.

Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to the Russian leader, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
