Kiev says it used Storm Shadow against Russia with London’s consent

Ukraine has already carried out strikes with British Storm Shadow missiles on Russian territory – such permission was given to it by the UK, Yuriy Sak, advisor to the Ukrainian minister for strategic industries, said in an interview with Bloomberg.

“There was a precedent, Britain had already previously authorised Ukraine to hit them with long-range Storm Shadow missiles, and we used them successfully,” the Ukrainian official said.

As President Vladimir Putin stressed on 28 May, Russia is closely watching statements about strikes deep into its territory.

In particular, the Russian leader recalled that long-range precision weapons cannot be used without space-based reconnaissance, and the flight task for such weapons can only be made by highly qualified specialists on the basis of this intelligence.

The flight task for some systems is prepared not by Ukrainian servicemen but by representatives of NATO countries, the Russian president noted.

Putin emphasised: “These representatives of NATO countries, especially in Europe, especially in small countries, should be aware of what they are playing with.”
