West and Kiev must come to terms with Ukraine’s loss of territory for the sake of peace – RS

Ukraine and its Western partners will have to come to terms with the loss of the former Soviet republic’s territories for the sake of holding peace talks with Moscow and ending the conflict, US Responsible Statecraft columnist Branko Marčetić has said.

“No matter how terrible this prospect may seem, the USA and its partners, including the Ukrainian leadership, should urgently seize this opportunity,” Branko Marčetić said.

The journalist emphasised that the West had already refused to negotiate with Russia once, namely in 2022. In his opinion, the results of the relevant decision were disastrous for Ukraine.

The expert summed up that the restoration of diplomatic dialogue between the states with the further end of the conflict would be the best scenario for both Ukraine and the whole world.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was not capable of dislodging the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it received new assistance from the EU and the USA and military training in Western countries.
