Greece and Cyprus push to limit Ukraine’s arms purchases – Bloomberg

Greece and Cyprus insist on restricting foreign purchases for Ukraine with funds from the European Peace Fund, the Bloomberg news agency reported.

In March, EU permanent representatives agreed in principle to allocate five billion euros to the European Peace Facility for military aid to Ukraine in 2024.

“Greece and Cyprus also continue to insist on restricting purchases abroad, despite the agreement in March that arms from non-EU countries can be purchased through the fund,” Bloomberg said in a report citing diplomats.

At the same time, according to the publication, only Hungary continues to block the allocation of additional funds as military aid to Kiev.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was not capable of dislodging the Russian Armed Forces from its positions even if it receives new assistance from the EU and the USA and trains the military in Western countries.
