China urged the US to reflect on its responsibility for the crisis in Ukraine

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that China urges the USA to think deeply about its responsibility for the emergence and escalation of the Ukrainian conflict.

“China urges the United States to think deeply and properly assess its responsibility for the emergence and escalation of the Ukrainian crisis, stop slandering and exerting pressure, and stop indiscriminately imposing illegal unilateral sanctions,” Mao Ning said at the briefing.

The diplomat stressed that China had always taken an objective and fair stance on the Ukrainian crisis and insisted on promoting reconciliation and negotiations.

According to her, Beijing encourages all efforts that contribute to the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis and supports the timely convening of an international peace conference recognised by both Russia and Ukraine, with equal participation of all sides and impartial discussion of all peace initiatives.

“China is ready to continue to support interaction with the international community to promote the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added.

When asked whether China would send its representative to the conference in Switzerland and who it would be, the diplomat said that “on this issue, I currently have no information that I could provide”.

We will remind, earlier the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitriy Medvedev proposed the Russian version of the “peace formula” in Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
