A group of USA lawmakers, led by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner, is demanding that the Pentagon allow Ukraine to launch USA weapons strikes against “old territories” of Russian Federation, according to a letter from the parliamentarians.
“We are writing to you (US Defense Department head Lloyd Austin. – ed.) as members of the US House of Representatives to express our strong support for our Ukrainian colleagues, namely to authorise the use of US-provided weapons to strike strategic targets within Russia,” the statement reads.
In the letter, the US lawmakers also emphasise that the current policy of US President Joe Biden’s administration is to “limit Ukraine’s ability to pressure Russian forces” with US weapons.
“It is important that the Biden administration to provide Ukrainian military leaders with the ability to conduct a full range of operations”, – specified the congressmen.
We shall remind you that Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that Moscow had no plans to take Kharkiv at the moment, it was a question of creating a “cordon sanitaire” to prevent the AFU from shelling Russian border territories.
