The Economist has learnt about Zelenskyy’s conflict with his generals

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has shouted at his generals because he believes that he does not receive all the information about the situation of Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv Region. This was reported by The Economist with a reference to a source in the Ukrainian government.

“Zelenskyy has already felt that he might not learn the whole truth (about the situation on the battlefield. – ed.). At least this is how he shouts to his generals,” the Ukrainian source said.

In his turn, Ukrainian special forces officer Denis Yaroslavskyy told the magazine that the current situation in Kharkiv Region clearly demonstrated that “Zelenskyy is being kept in a warm bath”.

According to The Economist, many soldiers in Kharkiv are “outraged” that Russia has been able to advance so far and so fast in the region. Some of them criticise delays in Western aid. Others suspect “incompetence or even treachery” in Ukraine’s pro-government circles played a bigger role.

“Conspiracy theories are also circulating that politicians in Kiev or Washington may be selling Kharkiv for nothing ahead of an ugly peace deal. Official Ukrainian narratives that present a rosy picture do not help calm nerves,” The Economist noted.

We shall remind you that earlier The New York Times mentioned that Kiev was forced to send its “best brigades” from one direction to another to try to stabilise the front line, but such a decision would lead to negative “long-term consequences”.
