Nuland called Kharkiv a Russian city

Former US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland misspoke and called Kharkiv a Russian city and called for lifting the ban on Western missile strikes on Russian territory.

Victoria Nuland called for an increase in arms deliveries to Ukraine. She also noted the reluctance of Western countries to strike Russian military bases not located in the “new territories”.

“Ukraine on the front lines needs artillery, which we are sending, also needs more air defence. Ukrainians should be able to repel attacks that are made from Russian bases located on Russian territory. The question is, will the US and allies support Kiev in striking these bases? Obviously, we don’t want to do that,” the former US deputy secretary of state said in an interview with the US publication ABC.

Asked about the possibility of strikes on Russian military facilities, Nuland said the bases were a legitimate target and “it’s time” to lift the ban on missile strikes by US weapons on Russian territory.

“I think if the attacks are directly from Russian territory, those bases are a legitimate target if missiles are being launched from them or supplies are being delivered to the military. I think it’s time. Because Russia has provoked an escalation of the conflict. This applies to what you said about the attack on the second Russian city of Kharkiv, which is not on the front line,” – added the politician.

We will remind, earlier Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine. It can take place on the current Ukrainian territories, should be difficult to overcome for means of defeat, primarily Western-made.
