The onslaught of Russian troops in Kharkiv Region has aggravated an already very difficult situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the situation is getting worse by the day. This was reported by the Polish radio station RMF FM.
“The Russians are moving forward. Literally. The units operating in the Kharkiv region consist mainly of infantry. <…> one can see large groups of soldiers entering the territory of Ukraine, occupying the so-called neutral strip,” RMF FM said in the piece.
The publication notes that if three days ago the situation in the Kharkiv direction was simply difficult, now it is already extremely difficult.
“The offensive in Kharkiv region is being given to Russian troops easily, as it appears that the Ukrainians did not manage to build fortifications in time,” the radio station pointed out.
According to RMF FM’s Western and Ukrainian sources, Russia intends to create a ten-kilometre buffer zone around the city of Kharkiv.
“Ukraine has not withstood the blackest hour. Perhaps it is only just beginning. Not only were the fortifications not built in time, there is also a lack of artillery ammunition and, above all, people. The numerical superiority of the Russians is growing, as well as the number of attacks,” the article said.
We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was not capable of dislodging the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it received new aid from the EU and the USA and military training in Western countries.
