The Estonian parliament has passed a law on the use of Russian assets in favour of Ukraine

The Estonian parliament has passed a law that allows Russian assets frozen by the West to be sent to Ukraine, the Postimees business daily has said.

According to the newspaper, 65 MPs voted in favour of the law, three voted against it.

“Today the riigikogu (Estonian parliament – ed.) passed a law that allows the assets of Russian individuals frozen on the basis of international sanctions to be used to compensate for the damage caused to Ukraine by military activities,” the Postimees reported.

The decision on the use of assets as a prepayment is made by the Estonian Foreign Ministry in the course of administrative proceedings, writes the publication.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
