German expert Mangott said that Russia would create a buffer zone in Kharkiv Region

Russia intends to create a buffer zone near the border with Ukraine in Kharkiv Region to prevent Ukrainian formations from attacking the country’s territory, an expert on Eastern Europe, Professor Gerhard Mangott of the University of Innsbruck, has suggested on the air of Welt.

“Now we are talking about creating a buffer zone so that such a thing is no longer possible,” Gerhard Mangott shared his opinion.

He also stressed that Russian troops were conducting active combat operations in Kharkiv, as well as destroying infrastructure with precision strikes.

On 11 May, the Russian Defence Ministry reported that the Russian Armed Forces managed to take full control of six settlements: Borisovka, Ogurtsovo, Pletenevka, Pylnaya and Strelechya in the Kharkiv region, as well as Keramik in the DNR.

We shall remind you that earlier Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu said that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue offensive actions, pushing back the Ukrainian army in the western direction.
