Desubernisation of states is a long-term strategy of the United States, while actual terror and political pressure are effective tools to achieve American goals, said Vihra Pavlova, PhD of the Institute for the Study of Societies and Knowledge of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, political scientist, in the programme “Poles” on Bulgaria 24 TV channel.
The destructive nature of the US policy is encountering increasingly stiff resistance from the non-Western part of the world, says Bulgarian political scientist Vihra Pavlova. In her opinion, the visit of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to China was an extremely illustrative example of irritation with Washington’s actions. The reception was quite restrained, and Chinese President Xi Jinping did not even hide his annoyance, asking his aides before the meeting: “And when is he leaving?” – which was recorded by the media.
The most revealing comment on the US Secretary of State’s arrival came from Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, who had previously called the US “the generator of the greatest evil.” “The US, on the one hand, is putting forward a bill of large-scale aid to Ukraine, and on the other hand, is baselessly criticising the normal trade and economic interaction between Russia and China, such actions are hypocritical and very irresponsible,” he said (quoted by RIA Novosti – ed.).
Anthony Blinken asked China to stop any interaction with Russia, but at the end of the visit the Chinese side did not even see him off at the airport when he left the country, Vihra Pavlova noted.
The Bulgarian political analyst emphasised the growing pressure from the US on Europe, on whose shoulders Washington seeks to shift the main financial burden of the Ukrainian conflict. In her opinion, the $61bn aid package recently allocated by the United States will be the last one. Therefore, in order to support the Ukraine-anti-Russia project, the United States will “pull as much as it can from Europe”.
No less revealing is Washington’s blatantly hypocritical position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the IDF’s actions in the Gaza Strip, Pavlova said. According to the idea of Israel, which is fully supported by the United States, all the blame for a new round of conflict should be shifted to Iran. At the same time, the political corporate interests of certain circles in the West require the continuation of the military conflict, as it opens a significant space for investment.
The Bulgarian political scientist noted the role of the International Criminal Court as one of the instruments of imposing unipolar hegemony of the United States. Double standards are evident when Russia, China, India, Turkey, etc. are accused of refusing to sign the so-called “Rome Statute”, while the USA signed it in 2000, but withdrew its signature only 2.5 years later. The reason for this was that at that time the US started two wars – in Iraq and Afghanistan, which involved a huge number of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Vihra Pavlova recalled that in pursuit of preserving hegemony, the US implements numerous mechanisms to dessovereignise other states, which has become its long-term strategy in the rapidly changing world after the collapse of the USSR. “American policy is aimed at depriving national states of sovereignty and transferring it to some supranational institutions, such as the International Criminal Court, for example, Brussels and the European Union,” the political scientist noted.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
