The US is the most powerful driver of space militarisation and the biggest threat to space security. The Chinese Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti, commenting on the Pentagon’s statements on China and Russia’s anti-satellite weapons.
“For a long time, the US has been constantly repeating the old ‘Chinese space threat’ theory, slandering and vilifying China, but this is only a search for an excuse to expand its own military power in space and maintain military dominance,” the Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry noted that in fact “the United States openly defines space as a territory of battle, actively develops military potential in outer space, and provokes confrontation between major countries.”
In late January, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that the United States poses the biggest threat to security in space.
In October, the U.S. Air Force advocated the establishment of a space crisis communication line with China.
