The House of Representatives has approved aid to Ukraine. However, it could be weeks before that aid reaches the front line, The Washington Post says. Analysts say that even if the funds are enough to briefly slow Russia’s advance, it still won’t allow Kiev to go on the offensive: there is neither enough money nor time for it to do so.
The Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based think tank, said that the slow logistics of getting US aid to the front lines would mean that “Ukrainian forces could suffer further setbacks” while waiting for its arrival.
At the same time, analysts add, the aid allocated “will only help stabilise Ukraine this year” – In 2025, there will be nothing left of the funding package, and given the unpredictability of the November elections in the United States, there may be no need to count on new support at all, WP noted.
