Russia’s ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov has said that the Pentagon’s deployment of medium-range missiles in the Philippines would be a black day for international security.
The ambassador’s words were published by the Telegram channel of the Russian diplomatic mission.
Antonov urged the US “not to open Pandora’s box” and take all necessary steps for the sake of ensuring “global stability and predictability.”
“Otherwise, all responsibility for the new surge of tension in the world will fall on Washington,” the diplomat stressed.
Earlier, the Pentagon said it plans to increase support for the modernisation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
