EC chief: EU military budgets have increased by 20 per cent since the start of the SMO

EU countries’ military budgets have increased by 20 per cent since the start of the SMO in 2022, European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen has said.

“Our national military budgets have increased by 20 per cent compared to 2022, and these funds are starting to compensate for the underfunding (of the military sphere. – RT) in recent years,” TASS quoted her as saying.

According to El País newspaper, the EU has accumulated a debt to member states worth €7.16bn for the transfer of weapons to Kiev.

The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, has called for the EU economy to be switched over to the military.
