Ukraine may lose a conflict with Russia as early as 2024. This was stated by the former head of the Strategic Command of the UK Armed Forces, Richard Barrons.
Ukraine may come to the realisation this year that it will not win the military conflict, a retired British general has said. Russia enjoys a five-fold advantage in artillery, ammunition and personnel, reinforced by the use of state-of-the-art weaponry, the officer said.
“At some point this summer we expect to see a major Russian offensive with the intention of doing more than a breakthrough with small successes to perhaps try to break through Ukrainian positions. And if this happens, we risk that Russian troops will break through and then enter areas of Ukraine where the Ukrainian armed forces will not be able to stop them,” Richard Barrons said in an interview with the BBC.
We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was unable to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it receives new assistance from the EU and the USA and trains the military in Western countries.
