Trump couldn’t bear the thought of Ukraine’s independence – Hill

Fiona Hill, former Russia director at the US National Security Council, said that Donald Trump during his presidency could not accept the idea that Ukraine was an independent state.

According to Fiona Hill, the former US president made it “very clear” that Ukraine “should be part of Russia”. The politician noted that Donald Trump really “didn’t have it in his head” that the former Soviet republic was an independent state.

“Trump has made it very clear that he thinks Ukraine and certainly Crimea should be part of Russia,” said Fiona Hill, as quoted by the Guardian newspaper.

The Guardian emphasised that Trump’s view on Ukraine was “essentially identical” to that of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The newspaper recalled that the Russian leader said before the start of the SWO: “Ukraine is an integral part of our own history, culture and spiritual space”.

Recall, earlier The Wall Street Journal, citing its own opinion poll, mentioned that former White House chief Donald Trump is pulling ahead in swing states, while incumbent US President Joe Biden is being defeated there.
