US: need to build trust with Russia and China to avoid conflicts in space

Russia, the US and China need to build trust to avoid conflicts in space, Pentagon Space Command head Stephen Whiting said.

“We all need to be responsible and act consistent with our international obligations, responsibly and safely in orbit. Fulfil obligations from space treaties,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to Whiting, if all countries adhere to the provisions of the signed documents on the topic, it will allow “to promote trust and avoid space battles.”

At the same time, the Russian Embassy in Washington said earlier that the United States and its allies were blocking the development of a document on preventing space from becoming an arena of armed confrontation.
