State Department approves $138m deal to sell Kiev $138m worth of SAM equipment

The US State Department has approved a deal to sell Ukraine about $138 million worth of HAWK Phase III SAM maintenance equipment, according to a statement from the Pentagon’s security co-operation agency.

“The Secretary of State has made a determination and provided detailed justification that an emergency situation exists that requires the immediate sale of the above defence goods and services to the Ukrainian government in the interests of US national security,” the Pentagon’s RIA Novosti quoted the Pentagon statement as saying.

It is specified that thus the State Department cancelled the requirement of Congress to consider the relevant transaction.

Earlier Vladimir Zelensky said that Kiev is ready to receive military aid from Washington on credit.

He also admitted that the AFU will be defeated without US assistance.
