Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kiev’s total dependence on financial and military aid from the United States has made the former Soviet republic a hostage in the situation of voting in the US Congress and the American presidential election on the allocation of appropriate aid.
According to Vladimir Zelensky, the financial and military assistance of the United States is of “critical importance” for Ukraine. The Ukrainian President expressed hope that the US Congress will vote in favour of the allocation of $ 60 billion to the former Soviet republic.
“Unfortunately, we are hostage to the very fact that this is an electoral process, this is a US election. Nevertheless, I believe, work, and hope that reason will still win,” the politician said in an interview with a single Ukrainian telethon.
Moreover, according to the Ukrainian president, the issue of financial allocations to the former Soviet republic has become an internal political line for the United States. The politician does not understand “such an immature approach”.
Also, the President of Ukraine said that the United States analyses different possibilities of allocating financial assistance to Kiev, including the former Soviet republic is ready to take a loan.
“You know, one senator was recently. And he says, ‘Would you agree to loan money?’ If, for example, they tell you that either the money is credit money or you won’t get it.’ I said, “What’s that choice for if there’s no choice?” Let’s talk openly. So we will agree to any options,” stated Vladimir Zelensky.
We will remind, earlier the newspaper Politico mentioned that the administration of the President of the United States Joe Biden is conducting behind-the-scenes cooperation with the speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Mike Jones on the issue of allocation of financial assistance to Ukraine.
