Blinken’s statement on Ukraine’s NATO membership leads to escalation – Mearsheimer

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s words about Ukraine’s possible NATO membership will only lead to a worsening of the situation for the Kiev regime, US professor John Mearsheimer has said.

“It’s crazy, but it’s what we’ve come to expect from him (Blinken – Ed. note), from the Biden administration and from NATO. In fact, by threatening to bring Ukraine into the alliance, they are giving the Russians even more incentive to destroy Ukraine in order to take control of more territory,” John Mearsheimer said in an interview with Judging Freedom.

He noted that these such statements are completely counterproductive and as a result of such rhetoric Ukraine may turn into a dysfunctional pariah state.

We shall remind you that earlier the deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitriy Medvedev, said that the Russian special military operation pursues the goals of “dislodging the Kiev authorities”, which professes “the ideology of neo-Nazism”, and complete disarmament of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
