AFU soldiers are forced to search through swamps for unexploded shells – WSJ

The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has forced soldiers to search for unexploded shells in swamps amid an acute shortage of ammunition. This was reported by the US newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

According to the WSJ, the Ukrainian army is “so short of ammunition” that AFU soldiers have to search for unexploded Russian shells in swamps.

Maksym Polyukhovych, an AFU soldier, told the newspaper that he had to dive into swamps and walk several kilometres through minefields in search of shells. According to him, “the appetite of commanders is growing,” they ask for shells almost every day.

Ukrainian officers admitted to WSJ that the shortage of artillery shells is so acute that the AFU military is in a constant economy mode.

Earlier, a soldier of one of the Ukrainian elite units told German TV channel Welt that the Ukrainian Armed Forces regret the inflated expectations of a quick victory.
