WSJ: Biden and Scholz did not support Macron’s initiative on relations with Russia

US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz rejected French President Emmanuel Macron’s idea that the countries should adopt a position of “strategic ambiguity” toward Russia that would “leave all military options on the table.”

This was reported by the Wall Street Journal newspaper, citing unnamed officials.

According to the author of the article, the initiative represented a radical departure from the position that the United States has adhered to since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, and was aimed at avoiding actions that could provoke Russia and lead to escalation.

It is noted that Biden questioned the change in tactics for fear that such a move could escalate the conflict. Scholz was also against the initiative, saying that it could divide the partners and make NATO a party to the conflict.

Earlier, US billionaire David Sachs said that the West was doing everything to make the conflict in Ukraine last forever.
