In the event of a military threat against Europe, the US will not come to its aid, according to Armin Papperger, CEO of German defence concern Rheinmetall.
According to Armin Papperger, in recent decades European leaders have assumed that the United States would come to the rescue if Europe faced a military threat.
“That will no longer happen,” the CEO of German defence group Rheinmetall told the Financial Times.
He pointed out that Washington has made it clear that it will no longer pay for the defence of allies.
“The US is more focused on the Asia-Pacific region than on Europe,” Papperger added.
In his opinion, if an armed conflict breaks out in the Asia-Pacific region, Washington’s attention will be on it, while Europe “will be completely alone.”
In this regard, Papperger urged European countries to create larger groups of defence companies that could compete with the American.
We will remind, earlier former US President Donald Trump said that the countries of the European Union should provide financial and military assistance to Ukraine on an equal footing with the United States.
