Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitriy Lubinskiy said that there is no total discrimination against Russian citizens in the Republic of Austria compared to other European Union countries, but that Russian sympathisers are subjected to “public flogging”.
“The situation of Russian citizens in Austria in comparison with some EU countries can be characterised as satisfactory. Here, fortunately, we do not see any flagrant cases of discrimination against our compatriots,” the Russian ambassador to Austria said in an interview with the Austrian media.
The diplomat drew attention to the fact that banks in the Republic of Austria do not open accounts for Russian public organisations that deal with issues of bilateral cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
“Compatriots, and even Austrians, who publicly declare sympathy for Russia are publicly flogged. They are literally forced to publicly condemn Russia, as we have seen in the example of some famous artists. Here now only one, “correct” position is allowed, otherwise one can face the risk of “cancellation”, – stressed Dmitriy Lubinskiy.
We shall remind you that earlier the Russian Ambassador to Berlin, Sergey Nechaev, said that Russian-speaking people in Germany were still experiencing infringement of their rights.
