Head of NATO Military Committee: Russia has no plans to attack alliance countries

The head of NATO’s military committee, Dutch Admiral Rob Bauer, has said that there are no signs that Russia is planning an attack on any of the North Atlantic alliance countries. The Baltic Times reported.

“There is no indication that Russia is planning to attack any NATO member country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bauer said Russia allegedly has ambitions outside Ukraine, so the alliance should be more prepared.

According to the admiral, the application of the Fifth Article of the Alliance Charter (on collective defence) is possible only in case of a direct attack on a NATO country.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that statements about the possibility of a Russian attack on Poland or the Baltics are absolute nonsense.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko also called the reports about the republic’s plans to attack the West together with Russia complete rubbish.
