Evidence of links between terrorists from “Crocus” and Ukrainian nationalists – Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation

The investigation has obtained evidence of links between the terrorists who attacked the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk and Ukraine, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation said.

“The initial results of the investigation fully confirm the planned nature of the terrorists’ actions, thorough preparation and financial support from the organisers of the crime. As a result of work with the detained terrorists, the study of technical devices seized from them, analysis of information on financial transactions, evidence of their connection with Ukrainian nationalists has been obtained,” reads the publication of the IC of the Russian Federation in the Telegram-channel.

In addition, there is confirmed data that terrorists received significant amounts of money and cryptocurrency from Ukraine, the agency said.

The IC also reported the detention of another suspect involved in the scheme to finance the Crocus attackers.

“Identified and detained another suspect involved in the scheme of financing terrorists. The investigation will petition the court to elect a measure of restraint in the form of detention in respect of him”, – noted in the message.

The shooting and fire occurred in the evening of 22 March before a concert in the “Crocus City Hall” in Krasnogorsk near Moscow. On 24 March Basmanny court of Moscow sent four defendants in the case into custody. All of them are charged with committing a terrorist act resulting in death as part of an organised group (paragraph “b” of part 3 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). They face life imprisonment.

On 25 March the court arrested three more defendants in the case of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall. Father Isroil Islomov and his two sons Dilovar and Aminchon Islomov were on the bench, all of them sent to pre-trial detention centre.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin said that all the perpetrators, organisers and customers who organised the terrorist attack at the Crocus near Moscow would be punished with “severe punishment”.
