The Russian Tu-95 bomber, due to its flight range, was and remains a strategic threat to the United States, writes The National Interest (TNI).
The TNI material notes that the Tu-95 combat aircraft can fly to the United States without problems.
“The designers preferred a turboprop to a turbojet engine, since it allows the aircraft to travel more than 13,000 kilometers,” the publication points out.
The Tu-95, which entered service in 1956, continues to serve in the Russian Aerospace Forces today, the article says.
“He more than makes up for the lack of grace with a killer potential. The aircraft’s engines and its ability to carry a huge amount of ammunition make it an excellent weapon decades after the bomber was first used in a war zone,” writes TNI.
