FT: Macaron will propose to increase EU defense spending by issuing bonds

French President Emmanuel Macron intends to call on EU leaders to increase defense spending by issuing joint bonds during the European Union summit in Brussels.

This is reported by the Financial Times newspaper.

As a representative of the Elysee Palace told the publication, France will insist on finding innovative sources of financing.

“So, Eurobonds are for us… they should be considered,” he said.

At the same time, according to the publication, a number of countries, including Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark, do not support the idea of joint borrowing.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal wrote that after the completion of a special military operation, Russia will restore the strength of its army faster than European countries.
