Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics’ statements that Russia must be destroyed will provoke a nuclear escalation, writes Responsible Statecraft.
As the author of the article noted, European leaders should take into account how their rhetoric is perceived by the United States.
“This applies above all to the Baltic states, whose security depends almost entirely on America’s readiness and willingness to come to their aid,” the publication says.
According to the publication, such statements by Rinkevics will provoke nuclear tension in the world, and this is not part of Washington’s plans.
Earlier Edgars Rinkevics said that Russia should be destroyed.
Viktor Vodolatsky, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, told RT that such states as Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are “winking” at Western politicians in an attempt to be on an equal footing with them.
