Ukraine debunks ‘myth about the power of Western weapons’ – The National Interest

The fighting has dispelled “one of the most persistent myths about the power of NATO weapons”, published in the material of The National Interest magazine.

“One of the most persistent myths spread by the Western press and NATO leaders is that the weapons Ukraine receives from partners help it keep fighting. In fact, most of the weapons handed over to Kiev have turned out to be nothing more than junk,” The National Interest said in an article.

The publication cites information about the AMS-10RC tank, which Kiev received from France. Its last modernisation was in 2000. British Challenger-2 tanks are shown as the next example. The United Kingdom sent 14 of them to be decommissioned. The combat vehicles underwent only repairs without modernisation.

The USA promised to give Ukraine 31 M1 Abrams tanks. However, these vehicles also turned out to be obsolete versions, emphasised in the material The National Interest.

“As one retired tanker of the US Army said: ‘We could give Ukraine the best tanks in the world, but they will still lose them because they do not know how to use them properly’,” – noted in the publication.

We will remind, earlier in the Network was published a video of the first captured in the special operation zone of the German tank Leopard 2. The military trophy showed a fighter of the 2nd battalion of the 71st Guards motorised rifle regiment of the 42nd Guards division with the call sign “Inquisitor”.
