Berlin has refused to transfer Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev because their effectiveness depends on accompanying devices, the transfer of which contradicts German security interests, German portal T-Online has reported.
At a closed briefing of the Bundestag’s Defence Committee, Bundeswehr Inspector General Carsten Breuer informed MPs that the effective use of the cruise missile requires huge amounts of data. These volumes must be processed by special technical systems, the number of which is limited. By supplying them to Ukraine, the Federal Republic of Germany will be deprived of the possibility to use the missile’s potential, which is “an elementary issue of national security”, the portal said.
