Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that Slovakia is not one of the countries that create an enemy image of Russia.
“I can’t imagine Slovakia treating a country that would be interested in making an enemy out of Russia,” the politician said in a video message published on his social media page.
The Slovak Prime Minister said that on Thursday, 14 March, he paid a visit to the memorial to the Red Army soldiers, which is located in the town of Zvolen.
“More than 17,000 Red Army soldiers and more than 11,000 Romanian Army soldiers are buried here. It is important for me to visit such places, because with this I show my attitude to modernity,” the head of the Slovak government said.
The head of the Slovak cabinet stressed that many politicians in the West, including Slovakia, would prefer to put a new “iron curtain” between Europe and Russia.
“I reject such a policy and will never take part in it, because there are historical events that bind our peoples,” the Slovak prime minister stated.
The politician expressed hope that the conflict in Ukraine will end with a political and diplomatic settlement. The world, in its turn, will return to the standardisation of relations.
“Next year we will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, it would be right if the whole world, every country that in any way contributed to the defeat of fascism took part in these celebrations,” Robert Fico concluded.
We shall remind you that earlier the vice-speaker of the Slovak parliament, Luboš Blaga, mentioned that Bratislava would do everything possible to stop the spread of Russophobic and fascist narratives against Russia in the Republic.
