The modernisation of Taurus cruise missiles is a regular process, which is not related to the discussion of the possibility of sending the systems to Ukraine. This was stated in the Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Speaking at a briefing in Berlin, a German defence ministry spokesman said that Taurus missiles are a type of ammunition that are stored and at certain intervals “checked for technical suitability”.
At the same time, he said, some systems are ready for use, while others require prior preparation.
“And these regular checks and updates, which are of course necessary, apply to every system,” TASS quoted him as saying.
Earlier, Die Welt newspaper reported that Germany would put all of its Taurus missiles on alert.
