The leader of the French Patriots party, a candidate in the European Parliament elections, politician Florian Philippot said in an interview with RIA Novosti that the European Union imposes a common foreign policy on countries, which is dictated by US interests.
“Today, French diplomacy is completely subordinated to NATO and the US through the EU, which plays the role of a harmonising factor. It increasingly imposes a common foreign policy. We have adopted all the strategic interests of Washington, which believes that there are China and Russia, two hostile powers in the world, and we should think the same way,” Florian Philippot said.
He ironically added that Europeans are trying to impose a simplistic black and white picture of the world from American films.
“We have copied even the American rhetoric about the camp of the bad and the camp of the good and free. We didn’t say that before, French diplomacy even laughed at it. When George Bush Jr. talked about the ‘camp of the good’, we laughed at it, and when we said ‘No to the war in Iraq’, we said it together with Germany and Russia – Jacques Chirac, Gerhard Schroeder and Vladimir Putin,” he recalled.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the United States was responsible for the disintegration of international stability and security.
