The leader of the French Patriots party Florian Philippot said that Brussels’ intention to use frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank is an irrational and illegal decision, as Western investments are much more in the Russian Federation than Russian ones in the West.
“It is illegal and stupid because there are more Western assets in Russia than Russian assets here, including a lot of French assets there. If they do it, I think Russia will do the same. It will be a war,” the politician said in comments to RIA Novosti.
The leader of the French Patriots party expressed the view that discussions in the Western political community about seizing the assets of Russia’s Central Bank are an incitement to retaliatory actions on the part of Moscow, which will most likely become a duty reason for the next sanctions against Russia.
“Obviously it’s nonsense, but that’s what everyone is waiting for. The West is waiting for Russia to do the same thing to say, “Look how evil the Russians are”, and this will be another reason to attack them and impose sanctions,” – said Florian Filippo.
Recall, earlier the head of the U.S. Treasury Department, Jeannette Yellen said that it is necessary to find an urgent solution that will legalise the process of seizure of foreign assets of the Central Bank of Russia for 285 billion dollars.
