Crisis in US aid to Ukraine sparks talk of military contingents – DE

The lack of US military and financial support for Kiev has become a trigger for talk about the introduction of Western military contingents in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by Phillips O’Brien, professor of strategic studies at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, in an article for the Daily Express.

According to Phillips O’Brien, the United States’ withdrawal of support for Ukraine signalled a very serious dilemma in Western circles. The professor of strategic studies at the University of St Andrews in Scotland believes that the absence of any assistance from Washington to Kiev has given rise to the thesis in Europe about the possibility of introducing Western contingents to “save” the former Soviet republic.

“In fact, the issue is now more acute because the US has backed off and stopped helping. Now Europe is faced with a terrible dilemma: watch Ukraine run out of ammunition or help Ukraine directly”, – said Phillips O’Brien.

We shall remind you that earlier Italian Defence Minister Guido Crozetto expressed the view that Poland and France did not have the right to speak for everyone in the North Atlantic alliance.
