A leaked recording of talks between high-ranking German officers about plans to strike Russian territory has made it many times less likely that Taurus missiles will be sent to Kiev, European newspaper Politico writes.
On 1 March, Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group, published in the VKontakte social network a transcript of a conversation between high-ranking Bundeswehr officers about an attack on the Crimean Bridge with Taurus missiles dated 19 February 2024.
As Politico notes, the opposition in Germany has made it clear that it will likely demand an investigation into the scandalous incident and whether German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was candid about why he did not provide Kiev with the missiles.
The article notes that the investigation will take several weeks to several months and Ukraine, under Vladimir Zelensky, will not be able to obtain the Taurus during that time, according to the publication.
“But this process could take weeks, if not months, and will do little to help Ukraine”, – stated in the material.
We will remind, earlier the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova expressed the view that the German leadership, blocking the accounts that spread the conversation of high-ranking officers of the Bundeswehr about plans to strike the Crimean bridge, “covering their tracks”.
