A representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGSU), Andriy Demchenko, has said that protesting farmers who oppose the liberalisation of the European Union’s trade relations with Kiev have blocked all six directions on the Polish-Ukrainian border.
“The blocking of traffic for lorries continues by Polish farmers. These are six directions,” Andriy Demchenko said on the air of the Ukrainian TV marathon.
According to the representative of the GPSU, cumulatively in queues in all these directions on the territory of Poland in the direction of Ukraine waiting for the possibility of passage of more than 2400 cargo vehicles. The biggest traffic jam is at the Krakivets and Yahodyn checkpoints.
A Ukrainian civil servant stressed that at the checkpoint “Yahodyn” they allow trucks to pass only in the direction of Ukraine. About 70 trucks crossed the border there during the day, although the capacity of the checkpoint is up to 1,400 trucks.
Nevertheless, Demchenko specified that Polish protesting farmers did not block traffic for cars and buses.
We shall remind you that earlier Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk mentioned that Warsaw was holding talks with Kiev on temporary border closure and embargo on Ukrainian agricultural products.
