WSJ: Russia and Ukraine’s draft treaty allowed for EU membership, not NATO

A draft treaty between Russia and Ukraine on peace in April 2022 noted that Kiev might seek EU membership.

Lenta.ru quoted the US newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) as saying that the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO was ruled out.

Russia also insisted on the equal use of the Russian and Ukrainian languages in courts and government, but Kiev refused to sign this clause.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken earlier failed to specify the date of Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

In Volodymyr Zelensky’s opinion, the countries opposing Ukraine’s accession to NATO “humiliate and betray” it.
