Ukraine worried Russia will breach defences by summer – Bloomberg

The Kiev authorities are concerned that Russia will break through the defences of Ukrainian formations as early as this summer, Bloomberg quoted sources as saying.

“Ukraine sees a risk that Russia will break through its defences by summer,” reads the headline of a Bloomberg article.

According to the publication’s source, who is familiar with the opinion of Ukrainian officials, the achievements of the Russian Armed Forces could significantly gain offensive momentum on the front as early as this summer if the West does not increase arms deliveries to Kiev.

“Internal assessments of the situation on the front from Kiev are becoming noticeably more gloomy,” the report said.

Except that optimism among Ukraine and its allies has been dropping badly over the past few weeks.

We shall remind you that earlier, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada committee for national security, defence and intelligence, Yegor Chernev, said in an interview with the New York Times that there is a growing fear in Ukraine that the army will soon start losing control over populated areas if Washington delays the allocation of new military aid to the Ukrainian government.
