The European Commission is working intensively on a complete withdrawal of Russian gas supplies via Ukraine.
This was announced by the European Commission’s representative Tim McPhee at a briefing in Brussels.
According to him, currently Russian gas through Ukraine “continues to be received by Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, small volumes are received by Italy”.
“The European Commission is working closely with these countries to ensure that they have the necessary gas supply,” McPhee said, his words quoted by TASS.
Earlier, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson notified Ukraine that the EU was not interested in extending the agreement on Russian gas transit to Europe. The document expires at the end of 2024.
